Pai Li Lung (John A. Weninger)

John A. Weninger (Pai Li Lung), 71, of Wind Gap, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016. He was the husband of Janice (Elliott) Weninger. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late John and Anne (Kratzer) Weninger. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1962 and married his high school sweetheart, Janice, in 1965. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and had renewed their vows in front of their family and friends. John served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War from 1967 to 1969. He worked as an inspector for Bethlehem Foundry until 1971, when he opened his first martial arts school. John taught Pai Lum (White Dragon) Kung-fu and Tai Chi for 45 years. He was the Senior Student of the late Grandmaster Daniel K Pai. He owned and operated the Weninger Kung-fu Institute Franchise, and for many years he taught private lessons from his home. The knowledge he imparted to his students and the passion with which he taught his art had left a lasting impact on the lives of many. Survivors: His pride and joy were his family, his wife Janice; daughter, Jandra Weninger (Companion, Fred True) of Bloomsbury, NJ, and his devoted dog, Marley. He was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Shaffer, in 2011.
